My Reflection of Weaving the Web
Weaving the web is by the very person who created the web, Tim Berners-Lee, in this story he explains how and for what reasons he created the web for and how large internet providing corporations wanted to charge people for the internet instead of letting it be free to whomever wishes to use it. My reflection on this subject is that I think the web should be free to anyone who needs it because there are many less fortunate people in the world that can not afford much. So if we give them the access to the world-wide web then we are providing them an opportunity to stay more connected with their loved ones and to be more aware of world affairs and problems. And in doing so then we will help third world countries and other unfortunate countries in being more civilized and orderly in an otherwise chaotic world.

I agree with what your saying. The web shouldn't be aavailable only to those who can afford it. Everyone should have the priveledge to use it. The web can be used for many things like staying in touch with family and friends, a great thing for those who don't have the web. Everyone should have the right to use the web.
ReplyDeleteI also agree with you about the web being free to anyone. Overal good entry. :)
ReplyDeleteI also agree that the World wide web should be free, and good thing it is! I think that as long as Tim Burners-Lee, and all those that support him and his cause are around, the World Wide Web will stay free. Lee's motive and idea behind creating such a powerful program was not to become rich or famous but to as you said, connect society on a level it has never before been able to connect on.
ReplyDeleteone of the benefits of a free web is that people are willing to develop and share content for free - which is the fun part of looking stuff up on the web. If the web were a subscription service, many would not be willing to post/host web site that someone else is making money off of!
ReplyDeletegreat reflection on bringing up the "free" aspect of www.
hey there, i agreed with holly J imagine if we have to pay money everyday to just get online, i dont think everyone could afford it.
